Can students get free access to Microsoft Office?

Do students have free access to the Microsoft Office suite, like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint?

Yes! Microsoft Office offers free software tools for teachers and students.

Instructions

Step 1

You need to first request a student email account by logging in to MyGateway. Once there, you will see under your student section the link where you can open your student email:

 Select Student tab and login for student email

  • Your Cypress College email address is your student number@cypresscollege.edu 
    • For example: 00001111@cypresscollege.edu 
  • Log in to mail.cypresscollege.edu to access your Cypress College email account. You will use your student number@cypresscollege.edu and your myGateway password to log in. 

 

Step 2

Once you login to your student email in Outlook 365, Select your profile picture, you will be able to get to your account information.

Click once on profile picture in upper right hand corner. Select View account

Step 3

Under "My Account" you will see "Office Apps". Select this and then "Install Office."

Select Office apps

Select Install Office to download - There are also mobile device options


*TIP: You can always use the online versions of Word, Excel and Powerpoint which opens directly in your Internet browser.

  1. Open the "waffle iron" app launcher in the upper left hand corner of Outlook 365
  2. Select the app you want to use, for example, Excel

Select the App Launcher, Waffle iron icon     Apps in Outlook 365 listed - Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneDrive, etc.
